The Eden 10 in Yard

Base Information

Everything you need to get started and grow with confidence.
Option #1

Level Surface

The most common method is to create a level surface using pavers or concrete slabs. Be sure to make the slab area slightly larger than the greenhouse dimensions, as the actual size is a few inches bigger than listed. For example, if you’re getting an 8’x6’ greenhouse, consider making the slab area 10’x8’. This extra space allows you to place water barrels and gives you room to walk around the greenhouse for cleaning and maintenance.

Option #2

Soft Ground

Most greenhouses are built on a solid foundation, but if you’re setting yours up on soil or grass, stepping on the door sill repeatedly can cause damage, as the sill will follow the ground's contours. To prevent this, you’ll need to place something solid, like pavers, under the door sill. We recommend using our soft soil support, which ensures the door(s) slide smoothly in the track.

Whether you’re building on a hard or soft surface, we include options to securely anchor the base.

Integral Base with a Low Threshold

We provide aluminum bases as a standard feature for added strength and durability. Aluminum bases won’t rust, rot, or warp, so you don’t have to worry about them deteriorating. Because our aluminum bases are built into the greenhouse framework, we’re able to offer a low threshold door that’s also taller, making it easier to access.

Low Threshold Door: This door has a minimal step, making it easier to enter and exit without tripping, and is wheelchair accessible.

For the Titan Collection

For enhanced stability in our larger models, we recommend constructing a brick base using solid engineering bricks. Note that a taller base will create a higher step into the greenhouse. Precise brickwork is crucial due to the overlapping sills. See our technical page for exact dimensions.

Titan greenhouses come with an integrated aluminum base featuring doors with low thresholds for easy access. Optionally, the doors can be set into the brickwork to accommodate wheelchairs and wheelbarrows.
